One more day to share with family at my brother's house and New Year's Day was a white one! I had so much fun playing in the snow with my nephew and nieces and making wonderful memories. Inside, all thawed and potato souped, I felt like I had so much more loving and sharing and talking to do with so precious little time. So much magic wrapped up in a few fleeting hours and little ones, who didn't know the spell was about to be broken, as we would be leaving for Boston in the morning.
When I was hugging Bronwen goodbye, she just held me tight and said, "Stay with me, Jayme," which made me cry. She stared at my tears with her big bewildered brown eyes as I told her I was OK. I asked her if she would wipe my tears, so she watched until one rolled down. She sucked in her little breath and said, "There's another one!" and wiped it with her clenched wee paw...They are changing so fast; it hurts to watch time make them grow, despite the missing frames in my reel.
Early tomorrow, we will beat a very snowy path back east. Back to school, back to work and back to a house I just can't quite call home.
