The time came to head back to Boston. I drove 15 hours straight, just me and the dogs on Thursday. It was a beautiful day, clear roads, non-existent traffic and miles and miles of blue skies, woods and rolling hills and my worship music. Thank you God for our date!
It is weird being home. Our apartment is smaller and darker and quieter than I remember. (I haven't really been here since the middle of November) Its time to put the Christmas tree away. hahaha. And do some new routine arranging. For the next two or three weeks, Scott will continue to be gone, working on his renovation project for his boss down at Cape Cod. Where I could have stayed even longer in Indiana with my parents and adorable neices and nephews, I knew I needed to come back and embrace this time alone.
What would YOU do if you were given two or three weeks to yourself, with no job, no spouse, and no little ones grappling for your attention?
"To market, to market, to buy a fat pig
Home again, home again, jiggety-jig.
To market, to market, to buy a fat hog
Home again, home again, jiggety-jog
To market, to market, to buy a plum bun
Home again, home again, market is done."

Jayme,
I'm so glad to read that you made it home safely. I enjoyed our visits together, but wish we had more time, time without me working too. :)
Let's see, what would I do if I was given two or three weeks to myself??? Hmmmmm. Well, first and foremost...lots of SLEEP. And you know me, I'm sure I'd do lots of cleaning, pitching and rearranging. I find organizing fun and soothing; it's a great stress reliever to get unorganized clutter in order; it gives me peace. And last but not least, lots of vegging on the sofa with a good book or a good movie. It's been so long since I've read for pleasure. I would love to read something that's not school related. Ohhh, and one more thing. I'd probably go tanning. I like the beach, and I desperately miss the sunshine so I might get myself a few sessions at the tanning bed.
Enjoy your alone time. Call if you want to chat. :)
Hi Jayme,
Wow! That sounds amazing to me! However, I know that you will really miss Scott. Know what? I think I would try to do something for others. Could you volunteer to read to children at a hospital, or is there a soup kitchen you help at, or a mission? There are just so many needy people, and I know you would be an amazing encouragement to them....and them to you as well.
Embrace each day for the gift it is, and make it beautiful!
I love you, Mom
PS I'm memorizing Psalm 91 for Lent...maybe that would be an idea for you too.
Hello dear Jayme!!! I loved reading your blog today! :) So glad you are able to do it again. It is beautiful and I'd actually like to know how you set up your background. I'm thinking of getting a blog started. . . it might be Cassia's as much as mine!! ;) Wow, unexpected time alone. . . what would I do!!!???? I love Caren's and Mom's ideas. I would definitely love cleaning out and organizing (I usually get the itch to do that at the beginning of the year anyway!), reading or doing a fun craft or project. I also would want to be around people too! Reconnecting with friends over coffee or lunch and giving of my time to anyone in need - a neighbor, a friend, at a homeless shelter . . . all fill up my tank! I love you and am so proud of you for trusting God and walking with Him faithfully through life's ups and downs. You are a jewel, and I am so blessed to be your sister!!! I pray that as you draw near to God, He will draw near to you and bless you during this quiet time.
hey girl, so thankful for our time when you were here!! thanks a ton for taking a morning w/ me! :)
3 wks alone might drive me crazy :) but i would READ & create art! go to libraries & museums, take long wandering walks in quiet woods, collect inspiration photos, work out some ideas...and CLEAN MY FLOORS!! ;)
hope it's a lovely, refreshing 3 weeks - i love all 3 of the books you're reading...praying for a deep refreshment & connection with your god & his people.
love you! jen
3 weeks alone right now sounds amazing! Let's see (if I had no house fix-up projects to do)-- I would organize, write some letters to Grandmas, read books, have solo time listening to God, journal, meet a friend for lunch, help a neighbor work in her yard, take walks, find a new fun shop in town, go to the harbor, and find someone who is having trouble and see what I can do to help ease the pain (listen, take a meal, etc).
I pray that God will use this season to draw you close to Him. Carpe Diem!
This was so delicious to think about that I got lost in thought for awhile . . . day dreaming . . .
I would read. Read the Bible. Read Jane Austen.
I would draw. . . garden . . . think.
During this time in my life I think I would need to catch up on some uninterrupted sleep too.
