This is a shy attempt to come back to blogging. I never intended to leave, but our computer took a dive around graduation and we only recently replaced it. Then one camera broke in July and the other one just over a month ago. (These images are from my phone) Its just as well that I was gone, because it was a very hard year. My thesis performance was postponed to an undetermined date in 2010 and I've felt like a perfect failure all year. But with God's compassion, I am not consumed, and His mercies are new every morning. Not to mention, we are heading home for Christmas in Indiana this week!

Saturday we came back from being gone an entire month living and working on Chebeague Island off of Portland, Maine. Being that we both worked for a seasonal landscaping company this summer and fall, both Scott and I were laid off in the middle of November. About a month earlier than expected. Ouch. So Scott contacted someone he does work for every now and then and she had a project on an 1825 cabin. In the woods. On an island. Off the coast of Maine. He had to fortify the foundation...

We both realized how anxious we are to get out of Boston and live in God's country. We went for a hike on Thanksgiving Day and went to the beach several times, finding shells, sea glass and even mussels to eat! One day, we saw two bald eagles fly over the cabin. After five years of living in the big city, everyone was SO nice and unpretentious and NOT in a hurry....It was pretty hard to say goodbye to such a place, such a pace, but oh, has it started a flicker, a light at the end of this tunnel called Boston...

Maine sounds like it was amazing! I am so glad you had that month away.
I know that light at the end of the tunnel is coming, and it's not a TRAIN (as Jeff says sometimes...)! :) Maybe 2010 is the year we'll both find the "light." :)
