Deadline!

Today was the due date for my thesis proposal on the life and works of composer Kay Swift. After tossing around several ideas for my dramatic premise (Fortune Favors the Fortunate, Simpler is Happier, etc..) I decided on one that Kay herself would endorse roughly drawn from a quote from her personal memoirs: Active Pursuits of the heart often sabotage Active Pursuits of Excellence. The official submission to the Graduate Thesis Committee is due March 7, so this idea will be refined over the next three week. To be continued...

How wonderful that you are writing this thesis on my grandmother. Do let me know if I can be of assistance. We are currently planning a Swift/Gershwin concert on May 15th in New York, at the Luce Center, by the way.
